THE WORKSHOP OF SMALL CRAFTS
Content:
Do you love learning how to make crafts? Learn how to make art with more than just pencil and paint! In this workshop, we will build functional objects in several materials while learning new techniques. This class will be ideal for children who enjoy approaching art in a hands-on way.
Please note that the workshops are in French but may be suitable for children in immersion.
Schedule:
During these 10 sessions, you will learn about and explore:
Week 1 – Materials Workshop: demonstration and experimentation in the notebooks
Week 2 – Sculpture: decorative pulls
Week 3 – Printmaking with found objects: doilies
Week 4 – Printmaking with stencils and stamps: doilies
Week 5 – Decorating Fabrics: Pillowcase
Week 6 – Sewing Basics: Case
Week 7 – Embellishing a design with fabric or thread: case
Week 8 – Construction of objects: small bag with a button
Week 9 – Leather decoration: key ring and coasters
Week 10 – Leather painting: key ring and coasters

Daniela Smith-Fernandez
Biography
Daniela Smith-Fernandez is a Chilean-Canadian artist and writer. She started sewing and making art objects when she was little and never stopped doing it. Her works are inspired by traditional crafts around the world and its heritage. Most of her projects are in textiles, but she works in many media. She has received training as a tailor, in cultural anthropology, and is currently studying education at St. Boniface University.
