LEARN FRENCH CANADIAN FOLK AND TRADITIONAL DANCES!

Jigging and square dancing are a key part of French-Canadian tradition and culture. In this class, students will learn the basics of French-Canadian dance, including jigging and traditional figures and formations. Students develop balance, posture, coordination, musicality, rhythmic skills, discipline and confidence. Classes are offered from beginner to advanced levels.

PRICE

Full year (26 classes + end of year show): $350

If you register your child for more than one class, you will receive a 10% discount on the second class.

10 classes (adult jigging only): $130
5 classes (adult jigging only): $65

Classes 2022-2023

For children 4 and 5 years old.

Your child’s first dance lesson! Introduction to the basic principles of ballet and jigging. Creative movement, improvisation, rhythm. This class prepares the child for other dance classes.

Saturdays from 10:50 to 11:50 a.m. in the Studio.

GIGUE 1

For beginners ages 7 to 9.

Introduction to basic jig steps and French-Canadian folk dances. Jigging and square dancing are a key element of French-Canadian tradition and culture. In this class, students will learn the basics of French-Canadian dance, including jigging and traditional figures and formations. Students develop balance, posture, coordination, musicality, rhythmic skills, discipline and confidence.

 Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in room 142.

Minimum age 7 (teacher must confirm if a younger child can participate).

For beginners 8 years and older.

Students develop balance, posture, coordination, musicality, rhythmic skills, discipline and self-confidence.

Thursdays, 5:00-6:00 p.m., in Room 142.

For students who have taken Jig 1, or children 8 years of age and older who already have some experience in jigging or tap dancing.

For beginners 9 years and older

In this class, students will learn the basics of French-Canadian dance, including jigging and traditional figures and formations. Students develop balance, posture, coordination, musicality, rhythmic skills, discipline and self-confidence.

Thursdays, 6:00-7:00 p.m., in Room 142.

For students who have taken Jig 2, or children ages 9 and up who already have some experience in jigging or tap dancing.

For beginners 11 years and older.

Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., in Room 142.

For students who have taken Jig 4, or children 11 years of age and older who already have some experience in jigging or tap dancing.

For beginners 11 years and older.

Thursdays, 7:15-8:15pm, in the studio.

For students who have taken Jig 5, or children 11 years and older who already have some experience in jigging or tap dancing.

For youths aged 12 and up (by audition)

This class is for teenagers who wish to perfect and deepen their knowledge of jigging and French-Canadian folk dancing!

Tuesdays, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, in room 142.

Registration is confirmed by audition (the teacher must confirm the student’s participation in the class).

For adults and teenagers

This class is for teens and adults who want to learn jigging and French-Canadian folk dancing!

It is possible to register for 10 or 5 classes (see fee schedule), for those who want to try jigging but don’t want to do a whole year.

Wednesdays, from 6 to 7 pm, in the Studio.
