P’tit Belliveau! & Cht’koot

presented by the Conseil jeunesse provincial and the Centre culturel franco-manitobain, September 26 at 7 p.m

Cht’koot is a Manitoba-based group made up of two sets of siblings and a friend who share their love of music. Jasmine and Anne-Sophie Régnier, Alexandre and Jean-Pierre Normandeau and Caleb Dorge are accomplished musicians who bring a new era to folk songs. They combine modern sounds with the traditional to give it a little twist. A perfect band for a good kitchen party!

Next up, our special guest for the evening: P’tit Belliveau!

Jonah Richard Guimond was 11 years old when he found a guitar in his parents’ wardrobe. Without knowing it, he had just given birth to P’tit Belliveau. Since then, the singer-songwriter from Baie Sainte-Marie in Nova Scotia has approached music with the same candid, slightly out-of-touch approach.

In 2019, his third place at the Francouvertes confirms the potential of his musical casualness. In 2020, working alongside Emmanuel Éthier, he put together Greatest Hits Vol.1, a debut album of unmistakable musical richness that won him the Lucien for revelation of the year at the GAMIQ and the Félix for record production of the year at the Gala de l’ADISQ.

It was with this sense of knowing a little more about what he was doing that P’tit Belliveau launched his second full-length, Un homme et son piano, on 1 April 2022 via Bonsound. Connected to his fans via live streaming platforms like Twitch, on which he makes beats in particular, the artist continues to combine the rustic and the electronic with a natural ease that never ceases to amaze.
