The end-of-year show took place on Saturday May 4, 2024 at the CCFM in the Salle Pauline-Boutal. Further details will be provided over the course of March 2024.

It is preferable that the child begin at the recommended age to ensure that he/she can keep up with the class at the same speed as the other students. For ballet, jig and jazz beginner classes, it is sometimes possible to enroll a child younger than the recommended age, but this is at the discretion of the teacher. For the petit pas ballet class the minimum age requirement is 4 years old. If you are unsure, please contact us and we will point you in the right direction.

If your child has taken classes with the dance school in 2022-2023, your child will enrol in the next level (for example, those who have taken gigue 1 will enrol in gigue 2). The teachers will contact the parents of former students to confirm which class level the child should be enrolled in for 2023-2024. Yes, the adult jigging class is for all learning levels. Depending on the experience and knowledge of the students enrolled, the course can be divided into beginners and advanced.

We ask parents to remain outside the classroom during classes so that the children can concentrate on the lesson and the teacher. We have an open week before the Christmas holidays, when pupils’ families are welcome to attend and observe the class.

We recommend arriving 10 minutes before class starts to ensure that the child is ready to dance when class begins.

Yes, it is important to inform the teacher if the child will not be attending the class. This allows them to adjust the class if necessary and to cancel and reschedule the class if the majority of students are not available. Teachers will share their contact information with parents at the beginning of the season.

It is important that students change before class to ensure that they are comfortable during class and that their clothing does not impede movement (such as jeans). Here is the type of clothing suggested for students depending on the course:

 

Jig :

Foot: Tap shoes

Clothing: Exercise clothing (loose or flexible) so as not to impede movement

Hair : Hair tied back

 

Ballet:

Foot: Ballet shoes.

Clothing: Ballet tights, ballet shoes and dance shirt (black dance shirt for levels 1 to 7)

Hair: Hair tied in a bun.

 

Hip-hop:

Foot: sneakers/sneakers.

Clothing: Exercise clothing (loose or flexible) so as not to impede movement.

Hairstyle: Hair tied back

 

Lyrical jazz:

Foot: jazz shoes (jazz oxford)

Clothing : Black tights or leggings with black dance shirt or tank top.

Hairstyle: Hair tied in a bun or ponytail.

 

Modern:

Foot: None.

Clothing: Tights and dancewear (leggings allowed).

Hairstyle: Hair tied in a bun.

 

We suggest Harlequin or Mallabar Apparels as stores. Many second-hand shops specialising in children’s clothing also sell dancewear and accessories.

Students may need to purchase a costume for the end of year show, but this depends on the class. That said, teachers make sure to keep the price reasonable and discuss with parents before proceeding with the costume purchase.
