Retrospective: Colette Balcaen This exhibition traces the work of the Winnipeg-based visual artist from her beginnings in 2005 to the present day. Twenty years of art are exceptionally brought together and celebrated in the gallery of the Franco-Manitoban Cultural Centre.

In her work, Colette Balcaen uses textiles. Fibers and threads form the basis of powerful installations, performances, and conceptual videos that highlight an individual's energy and their role in the community. For over 20 years, through sewing, crocheting, and knitting, Colette Balcaen has been unraveling the threads of stories and recounting the realities of lived experiences, inspired by the women who have influenced her, to express her feelings about past, present, and future situations.

A workshop with Colette Balcaen
Alongside her exhibition, Colette Balcaen will offer
two workshop sessions the 5 and
May 12 Next. These workshops for adults will allow you to discover the traditional art of felt and to design a beautiful textile landscape.
