Word from the board of DIRECTORS

On the occasion of our 50th anniversary, we are honored to present a special message from our Board Chair, Michelle Gervais.

Word from management

Ginette Lavack, General Director

The Centre culturel franco-manitobain is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, and it is with great pride that we invite you to join us in marking this event. The Centre has come a long way in its first 50 years, and in this anniversary year, we celebrate not only the past, but also the bright future that lies ahead of us.

Since opening its doors on January 25, 1974, the CCFM has played an integral role in strengthening the arts and culture at the heart of its mission. It has been the catalyst for bold artistic projects, the fertile ground where local artists have flourished and creative ideas have found expression. More than a gathering place, the CCFM is the social, artistic and cultural hub of an evolving francophonie. Home to numerous community organizations, it has also become the point of convergence where social and cultural aspirations meet and reinforce each other.

The first 50 years have seen challenges as well as successes, and we recognize the work of everyone who has contributed to its creation and journey over the past 50 years, whether as an artist, volunteer, Board member, staff member, spectator, entertainer, funder, or otherwise. This anniversary marks a significant moment in the history of the CCFM, and we are honoured to share this milestone with you.

We invite you all to join us throughout this year of celebrations, to share your memories and to help write the next chapters in the history of the CCFM. May this 50th anniversary celebration be a reflection of the last 50 years and the start of a new era of inspiration, inclusion and innovation.

IDEATION
The idea for the Centre culturel franco-manitobain's 50th anniversary logo emerged from a carefully thought-out creative process involving staff members, and was conceived by communications agency POP Communications inc. in close collaboration with Franco-Manitoban illustrator Chantal Piché. Together, they created a unique logo that celebrates the history, values and impact of our institution, while expressing its vision for the future. The elements of the logo combine harmoniously to convey this idea.
The logo is the result of a collaborative and creative process aimed at capturing the essence and values of the institution, while celebrating its history and impact in the community. The logo for the 50th anniversary of the Centre culturel franco-manitobain marks the importance of cultural roots, openness to diversity, continuous growth, the transition between past and future, and access to culture for all. It celebrates the institution's rich history while looking forward to the decades to come.
ELEMENTS
The Centre culturel franco-manitobain building, represented in the logo by the number 340, symbolizes the institution's solid foundations. It recalls the modest beginnings that led to the creation of the Centre, and underlines the continuity of its commitment to culture and community.

The ear of wheat evokes the Franco-Manitoban flag - visible on the building - and recalls the CCFM's Franco-Manitoban cultural identity and heritage, highlighting the community's pride in its culture and history.

The intertwined lines evoke the pattern of a field furrow, symbolizing the deep connection between the community and the MFCC. They also represent the vast plains of Manitoba, CCMW's home. These symbols reflect the Centre's ongoing commitment to growth, unity and partnership, defining its dynamic journey.

The bridge represents the transition between past and future, weaving strong links between generations and cultures. It symbolizes precious access to collective cultural wealth, acting as a link between diverse worlds and opening the door to cultural diversity. The Provencher Bridge was an obvious choice to symbolize local heritage. In the same way, the silhouettes of the St. Boniface Cathedral and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights are used in the logo.

The abstract forms suggest a promising future and constant change, reflecting the ongoing evolution of the Centre culturel franco-manitobain. It expresses a capacity for innovation and openness to new ideas.

The path represents CCFM's ongoing journey into the future, symbolizing the center's continuous expansion and development, while reminding us that the path of culture is a constant journey.

The river represents the fluid, ever-changing access to culture that the CCFM has been offering for 50 years. It recalls the vitality of the institution and its central role as a source of culture and inspiration.
