Fête de la Saint-Jean-Baptiste

Francophone celebration day “La Saint-Jean-Baptiste” will take place at Whittier Park this year!

This year, La Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Canada’s annual French celeberation, will take place on June 22nd 2018, from 10 am to 2 pm, in front of Fort Gibraltar, symbolic place of the arrival of the French in the Prairies.

Several activities for all ages will take place throughout the day, organized in partnership with Pluri-elles.

In the park, you’ll be greeted by Lulu Belle the Clown, whose mission is to put a smile on your face. You could also run into circus artist Joey Albert and admire his tricks. There will also be make-up and balloons for kids, and a small train will take you around the park!

Pluri-Elles will also provide various games of skills for the whole family, with an emphasis on family literacy. Books in French will be distributed throughout the day.

Festival du Voyageur will offer free admission to Fort Gibraltar to schools which take part in La Saint-Jean-Baptiste activities. Schools that are interested can contact the festival at [email protected] to book a visit.

Three artists will also be on stage between 11 am and 2 pm. Amazing juggler, pirouette master Joey Albert will kick things off at 11 am. Followed by Tibert le Voyageur at noon, who will share his many tales and songs of the fur trade! Last but not least, at 1 pm, legendary musician Jacques Chauvin will entertain kids and bring back memories to the people who grew up with his songs.
