What to expect at the CCFM for the 50th Festival du Voyageur

From February 15 to 24, the CCFM will be “Le Relais du Voyageur”, one of the official sites for Festival du Voyageur! So put your prettiest hat on and your traditional hood, and yell “HÉHO!” with us, as we give you the tour of this year’s festivities…

New exhibit: 50/30 years of ephemeral pleasure

Every year, we see them on our boulevards… They grow back in the middle of the winter, in new shapes, before time makes them disappear… Snow sculptures are part of the Festival du Voyageur since its beginning. Built in the prime winter material, they delight Manitobans year after year.

50/30 years of ephemeral pleasure is a step back on the evolution of an unusual art practice. Through a collection of rare pictures and videos, this exhibit pays tribute to carving artists from Manitoba and all around the world, who shaped the identity of the biggest winter festival in western Canada.

  • Opening / Meeting with the Symposium artists: Wednesday Feb 12, 6 pm

Les Colocs, Chali 2na… Live shows for all kinds of Voyageurs

On Saturday 16, at 11 pm, we will welcome Winnipeg rock band Bright Righteous. They will be supported by Efflo and Apha Toshineza.

Then, on Sunday Feb 17, cult Québécois band from the 1990’s Les Colocs will take on Jean-Paul-Aubry hall at 8 pm.

The next weekend, rapper Chali 2na (former member of Jurassic 5) will blast the CCFM at 11 pm, along with two DJ sets by Alaclair Ensemble and Anthony OKS.

Special nights with lots of guests and surprisers

It wouldn’t be the “Relais du Voyageur” without the popular Cajun night! Join us on Thursday Feb 21 at 7:30 pm to dance with The Revelers. Before that, Andrina Turenne will present an tribute to Gerry Turenne, who was director of the Festival in the 1970’s and helped to connect francophone cultures from Canada and Louisiana.

The next day, we take a trip down memory lane with a special show featuring some of the best francophone musicians from western Canada: Folle Avoine, Gerry et Ziz, Les Louis Boys, Kelly Bado, Gérald Laroche and Madrigaia.

And last but not least, after its huge success in 2018, Le Sundé Night Special hosted by Fançoise Therrien Vrignon will be back this year at le Canot on Sunday February 17!
