The Centre culture franco-manitobain is happy to introduce the four ambassadors for the Pavilllon canadien-français during the 2016 Folklorama Festival. Julie Desrochers and Philippe Mailhot are the adult ambassadors and Karin Jubinville and Catherine Sorin are the youth ambassadors.
“Our ambassadors are enthusiastic people who are active in the francophone community,” says the CCFM’s co-CEO Marc Prescott, “We’re delighted to have put together a team that possesses great pride and knowledge of the French-Canadian culture and the Pavillon canadien-français.”
As former director of the Saint-Boniface Museum, Philippe Mailhot is in the second year of his term as adult ambassador for the Pavillon canadien-français. He’s familiar with promoting the francophone community, having worked as a host and tour guide, experience that serves him well as ambassador.
Julie Desrochers knows the Folklorama Festival well, having already acted as youth ambassador for the Pavillon canadien-français in 2012 and Folklorama Ambassador General in 2013. She was also responsible for overseeing the VIP groups at the Pavillon canadien-français over the last two years.
Karine Jubinville and Catherine Sorin are no strangers to the Pavillon canadien-français either. Both are members of the Ensemble folklorique de la Rivière-Rouge, which regularly performs at the Pavillon canadien-français. Catherine Sorin was also a member of the Festival du Voyageur’s Official Voyageurs family in 2015-2016.
The ambassadors are responsible for promoting and representing the French-Canadian culture during activities organized as part of Folklorama, the world’s largest and longest-running multicultural festival of its kind, which takes place from July 31 to August 13, 2016.
The Pavillon canadien-français will take place at the CCFM from July 31 to August 6, 2016.
Please note that the Pavillon is looking for volunteers interested in participating in this unique cultural adventure. We have several volunteer positions available in kitchen services, visitor services, admissions and more! If interested, please contact Daniel Girard at 204.233.8972 extension 443.
The 2nd etition of Lost in Translation / Perdu en quoi ?
What better way to celebrate Canadian comedy than to have an improv show in both official languages? We take the English improvisers and truck them over the river to meet the French improvisers from the Ligue d’improvisation du Manitoba on their own turf at the CCFM.
What kind of hilarious miscommunications will take place? It’s a battle of wits and tongues… no, not french kissing tongues… well, probably not.
Get your tickets fast! Last year the show was sold out.

The CCFM presents Annette Campagne
Winner of a Western Canadian Music Award pour her most recent album, ‘Papillon amiral’, folk/rock singer-songwriter Annette has the ability to slip through the keyhole of life to gather up, heart in hand, music and lyrics that touch the soul and jump start the heart. She’s been part of the music scene for over twenty-five years, having worked with groups Folle Avoine and Hart Rouge before embarking on a solo career.
And now, with Papillon Amiral’, Annette returns to what she does best; ‘acoustic rock weaved together by strong pop melodies and dynamic rhythms. She paints a soulful tapestry, another exiting portrait of deep-grounded earthiness with powerful lyrics and soulful rhythmic inventions. Comprised of 11 songs (8 French and 3 English), Annette is a singer songwriter at the top of her game, recounting stories with a combination of flair and modesty.
